Digitization Policy

Blueprints will be digitized using a high-end digital camera with a digital scanning back. Digitization will be done with color 600-dpi TIFF images for master copy. 300-dpi JPGs will be used for default delivery size for users, although higher and lower quality versions will also be available.

The only retouching allowed will be for contrast to improve accuracy.

Original metadata will be collected either immediately before or immediately after digitization in order to minimize handling of materials.

Supplemental image digitization will follow the same policy, except that they may be scanned, rather than photographed if desirable. Likewise, black and white or grayscale digitization may be used at the discretion of the digitizer.

Master copies will be stored at the project headquarters and at an offsite facility.
