Locust Grove Sample Diary Entries

The following are sample images and transcripts of selected diary entries. The first set of samples are diary entries of Annette Innis Young for selected days of historic importance in U.S. history. The second set are entries in diaries for Innis Young and Hasbrouck Innis for the same dates in September 1901 to provide a comparison to the entries of Annette. The digital images are not ideal scans and were taken with a digital camera without a flash under less than optimal conditions. Images have not been edited, cropped or otherwise altered. The transcripts have spelled out abbreviations and corrected misspellings and grammar. The intent of transcripts on the site would not be to provide faithful renderings, but rather to provide clear, readable and comprehensible text that can be effectively and accurately searched. The transcripsts are annotated where words have been added or have proven illegible.
