Conducted after daily scanning startup procedure outlined in Project Management is completed

  • Each scanned page of program
    • 24 -bit Color 300 dpi
      • Color allows most realistic depiction
      • 300 dpi sufficient to show details of text, drawings, photographs, etc… without the issues of large files
    • Select adjustments will be made on an ass needed basis to present the clearest and most realistic recreation of orginal
      • Contrast
      • Brightness
      • Saturation
      • Rotations under 1 degree
    • A unique qualifier will be given that captures the season, month, day, and page. Examples:
      • 1932_10_29_F.tif
      • 1932_10_29_8.tif
      • *Orginally going to upload these scans, but the uncompressed tifs with embedded color schemes were around 20mb and too large for wikidot's file manager
      • Random sample of five programs revealed average image was around 2700X3100 pixels
    • Will be saved as a archival copy tiff
  • Use copy will be derived from tiff as a medium resolution jpeg file and saved with same name but L will be added at end to distinguish from thumbnail version
    • Will be same pixels as tif version
    • The size load on first click of thumbnail is about the size that will appear in navigator on wedsite
      • Result in clear and easy to load image that allows ample zooming for detail. Examples:
      • 1932_10_29_FL.jpg 1932_10_29_fL.jpg
      • 1932_10_29_8L.jpg 1932_10_29_8L.jpg
      • 1932_10_29_12L.jpg 1932_10_29_12L.jpg
  • A thumbnail will also be derived from the tiff of each programs cover (file ending _F)
    • This will serve to represent the entire program in the browse and gallery pages of the website
    • The thumbnails will be all given the width of 200 pixels that results in length of approx 250.
    • The file will be saved as a low res jpg and given the extension _FS example:
      • 1932_10_29_FS.jpg 1932_10_29_fS.jpg <—— Actual Size
  • The files will be stored on the website server and backed up exterior harddrive
    • The Project Director will be responsible for maintenance of the files. Including:
      • Regularly scans of files checking for corruptions
      • Migration onto new servers and backup hardrives as needed
      • Reformatting should either tiffs or jpegs fall into disuse
