This site will mount a reproduction of the advertisements which were published in The American Jewess magazine. The magazine, published between 1895 and 1899, was the first English language periodical published specifically for Jewish women in the United States. In contrast, the site will also feature related advertisements which were published in contemporary mainstream women’s magazines, such as Ladies’ Home Journal. This cohesive collection of early American advertisements directed at women, will be instrumental to both researchers and the public with an interest in the subject.
